Information is the power, Business Intelligence on Corporate Governance

"The goal of Business Intelligence is to provide the information they need, when you need it and in a form appropriate to people who have to make decisions."

The aim of this paper is to support the Business Intelligence or BI should be, of all business software tools (including CRM, ERP, or BI himself), that is closest to the role of management, specifically the Executive Officer.

Since the computer revolution and the explosion of Internet, information is becoming more and more importance. Everything is or will soon be digitized, the amount of information available each year is multiplied and the activity of our business is computerized in most respects.

Studies tell us that the information maintained by companies is doubling every two years and that 80% of decisions are made with only 10% of the available information.

And all of this information is power! Is necessary, vital, to compete.

For taking any decision, information is needed. Whether we are talking about reducing the nuclear arsenal of the world or costs in my business. And of course, make decisions, is one of the fundamental responsibilities of management in any company.

With this in mind, I emerged a definition of BI to paraphrase a well-known principle:

"The goal of Business Intelligence is to provide the information they need, when you need it and in a form appropriate to people who have to make decisions."

Therefore, a Commercial Director will provide you all the information you need about the sales from any point of view ...

... A Chief Financial information that enables authorities to monitor the financial situation of the business, global and detailed ...

... And any other person in the organization, whether or not to address, that information, whether high or low, you need to make their decisions, whether the strategic or day ...

This means you give each person in the organization the information you need, saving time and increasing the amount of good decisions made. For this alone, worth and have a Business Intelligence system and it should be interesting for the Directorate.

But also, what is the information required by the Directorate General for a business? On what area makes decisions a CEO? What areas need to worry?

Your responsibility is global, has to make decisions on all areas, and therefore need information from all areas.

Moreover, quality information available to date, and do not waste time, is a need to address that in a world constantly changing and increasingly competitive, can not be ignored.

In order to control the business, define a strategy and leading the execution of it, management will need to know what is happening in the business through frequent information, quality, and do not involve a time investment on their part or by the department.

If the role of Business Intelligence is to carry through an automatic process data from any area of business to the table of the person to make decisions, no one needs more data or is so critical that your decisions are sound and the Directorate General of an organization.

From this point of view it is clear that the Business Intelligence seems to be, in all areas of enterprise software, one that is closer to address. Closer to where the perfect decisions are made.
