SAP and German University launch online erp training course with certification for students in emea emerging markets

SAP® ERP Course at University of Duisburg-Essen Combines

WALLDORF, Germany - August 05, 2010 - Together with the University of Duisburg-Essen in Germany, the SAP® University Alliances program and the SAP® Education organization have developed a program to extend an ancillary course in the enterprise resource planning application from SAP AG (NYSE: SAP), SAP® ERP, to students in emerging market countries in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), allowing them to obtain an official SAP certification. The course, “Training ERP in 10 Days” (TERP10), will offer up to 300 participants the chance to acquire valuable SAP competencies during their time at university. This will enable students to enhance their career opportunities in emerging markets with strong demands for qualified SAP professionals.

Learning materials and tutorial support will be provided completely online via e-learning through the University of Duisburg-Essen, while the final certificate exam will be held by SAP Education on site at local SAP training centers. The fee for the e-learning course is EUR 415. In 2010, SAP will sponsor the fee for the first completion of certification exams. The registration deadline for the autumn 2010 course is September 5, 2010.

The TERP10 course is designed to provide participants with broad, well-founded knowledge of SAP ERP, its core business processes and their operational interrelations. Theoretical knowledge is put into practice and further deepened by means of case studies on integrated business process scenarios that participants carry out independently in the SAP system, which enable them to use and reinforce their training and fundamentally understand the system’s integration within complex business processes. After the successful completion of all case studies, participants receive a course certificate from the University of Duisburg-Essen.

“The TERP10 course emphasizes the practical application of know-how in addition to theoretical and methodical knowledge,” said Prof. Dr. Heimo H. Adelsberger, head of the Department of Production and Operations Management at the Institute for Computer Science and Business Information Systems, University of Duisburg-Essen. “Participants get the opportunity to solve demanding case studies live within an original SAP system, allowing them to acquire the skills to quickly familiarize themselves with any SAP ERP system later in their career.”

Upon completion of the course, participants can take a three-hour certification exam held by SAP Education. Upon successful completion of the exam, they receive the official SAP certificate “SAP Certified Business Associate with SAP ERP 6.0”. This certificate is recognized as a worldwide standard throughout industry sectors.

Flexibility and Independence Through E-Learning

The TERP10 courses will be provided via e-learning, which means that coursework can be carried out completely online and independent of time and location. Students only need a PC with a connection to the Internet. The University of Duisburg-Essen provides the courseware and the required software, in which the case studies are solved, as a download. In this way, participants can set their individual and independent schedules, as long as they complete all case studies correctly by the end of the course. On-site attendance is only required for the final SAP certification exam. All resources are available 24 hours per day; tutors at the University of Duisburg-Essen provide intensive and individual support throughout the course via e-mail and forums, including during weekends and semester breaks.
