Information Builders Launches WebFOCUS Business Intelligence Portal to Provide Enhanced User Experience

Part of WebFOCUS 8, New User Interface Offers Live Preview and Improved Customization

Information Builders, an independent leader in business intelligence (BI) solutions, today announced the launch of its WebFOCUS Business Intelligence Portal. As part of the WebFOCUS 8 enhancements, the BI Portal provides users with a single point of entry to all WebFOCUS features, a common user interface, and the ability to build complete, modern websites with just a few clicks.

The WebFOCUS BI Portal mirrors the look and feel of the drag-and-drop experience that today's workers are familiar with from popular online portals. With this sophisticated design, users have more flexibility in sizing and moving objects as content can be easily repositioned and individually customized to display multiple pieces in a single space using tabbed or accordion panels. The intuitive interface further simplifies end-user customization by enabling users to add their own pages in the same manner they would add a new tab in a web browser. Once a new page is created, users can then drag and drop the respective reports of interest onto the page. The new BI Portal also contains a live preview feature, giving users the ability to review every change, and its resulting impact on other aspects of the site, prior to committing to the revision.

Another key feature of the new BI Portal is the benefit it brings to non-technical end users. The solution uses the same Ribbon interface found in WebFOCUS InfoAssist, Information Builders' ad hoc reporting solution designed to eliminate strain on IT resources by enabling business users to generate and analyze complex data reports. By incorporating this familiar interface into the WebFOCUS BI Portal, Information Builders is giving business users the ability to build a fully functional portal without any prior knowledge of web design.

"Information Builders' new WebFOCUS BI Portal blends sophistication across user skill set," said Gerald Cohen, president and CEO of Information Builders. "With its intuitive interface, common across our product line, users don't need additional training to build fully functional websites, regardless of their level of technical expertise. While we'll continue to offer support for existing WebFOCUS BI Dashboards, we see our new BI Portal as the next generation of business intelligence, and we're excited to offer these advanced capabilities to our customers."
